Short, semi-long or opera

Women's gloves cover more ground than men's, and the length is usually what decides the pair. Length is measured from the base of the thumb, not the wrist. A short glove ends at the wrist and disappears under a coat sleeve. A semi-long pair reaches partway up the forearm at 16–20 cm, or roughly the elbow at 28–30 cm, and looks deliberate with a three-quarter sleeve. Opera length at 40–42 cm reaches high on the upper arm and is worn with something sleeveless.

Everything else — leather, lining, colour — follows from that choice, and all of it can be made to order.

Every pair is cut and sewn by hand in our workshop in Târgu Mureș, Transylvania, in deerskin, lambskin and peccary — in the classic neutrals and in colours most glove makers will not run.

Questions we get asked

What size am I?

Measure around your knuckles with your hand half-bent and without the thumb, in centimetres, and match it on the sizing chart. Women's sizes usually run 6.5 to 8.5. For long gloves the length is a separate choice — measure from the base of the thumb up the inside of your arm to see where it will fall.

Which glove for driving?

A short, close-cut, unlined pair — women's driving gloves. Anything lined or long gets in the way at the wheel.

Will a winter pair be too bulky?

Not if the lining is cashmere. It is warm without thickness, which is the whole reason we use it. Rabbit fur is warmer and does add a little bulk — worth it below freezing. Both are in women's winter gloves.

Do you make gloves for weddings?

Often. Bridal white in opera or semi-long length, silk lined, and we can match a colour from a fabric swatch if you send one. Order with a few weeks to spare and there is no rush at our end.
