Quick answer: For cold weather, choose shearling for the warmest glove, peccary or carpincho if you want leather that stays supple in the cold, and deerskin or lambskin with a cashmere or rabbit fur lining for everyday wear and driving. The lining matters as much as the leather.
Which leather is warmest?
Shearling is the warmest glove we make: the wool is part of the hide, so the insulation is built in. Peccary stays supple in cold weather when other leathers stiffen. Carpincho does the same. Deerskin is soft, breathable and the hardest-wearing, and with a cashmere lining it suits winter driving. Lambskin and nappa are thinner, so they depend on their lining; lined in cashmere or rabbit fur they are warm enough for most European winters, and they are the dressier choice. See our full comparison of glove leathers.
Which lining should I choose?
| Lining | Choose it when |
|---|---|
| Cashmere | You want warmth without bulk, for driving or town wear |
| Rabbit fur | You want more warmth in a lambskin or nappa glove |
| Shearling | You want the warmest option, for serious cold |
Can I drive in winter gloves?
Yes, if the glove is close-fitting. Our winter driving pairs are made warm without bulk, close enough to drive in. Fit is what lets you feel the wheel, so measure your hand before you order.
What size should I take?
Ready-to-wear sizes run 7.5–10 for men and 6.5–8.5 for women. If your hand falls between sizes, or you want a lining and colour of your own choosing, we make gloves to your measurements: see our bespoke page.
Where are they made?
Our gloves are made in our workshop in Târgu Mureș, Transylvania, a town where gloves have been made since 1925. Hand-sewing is available on request. Delivery within the EU is free and takes 3–7 days. Browse the winter gloves collection.
