The pair you actually lose

Everyday gloves lead a rough life. They go in coat pockets, they get sat on, they get left on trains. Most people buy a cheap pair every winter for exactly that reason, and spend more over ten years than one good pair would have cost.

That is the argument here. These are plain gloves for the walk to work and the errand in the cold, made to the same standard as everything else we do, in leather that survives being treated carelessly.

Questions we get asked

Lined or unlined?

Lined if the gloves are for winter proper — silk for a light layer, cashmere for cold. Unlined if you want one pair to cover spring and autumn as well.

Can you wear long gloves casually?

The semi-long ones, yes — that is the point of them. At 16–20 cm or 28–30 cm from the base of the thumb they meet a three-quarter sleeve instead of leaving a gap at the wrist, and they read as considered rather than formal. Opera length at 40–42 cm does not work that way; it belongs with evening dress. All the lengths are set out in long leather gloves.

Will they work with a phone?

Not through the leather. If tapping a screen matters, look at fingerless gloves instead — bare fingertips register, leather does not.

How long should they last?

Years of daily wear. The palm and the thumb seam are what eventually go, and a seam can be repaired — it is worth asking us before replacing a pair.

What size?

Measure around the knuckles with your hand half-bent, thumb excluded. Lined and unlined pairs are cut to the same size, so one measurement covers both. The sizing chart has the measurements.
