Bespoke vs Ready-to-Wear Gloves: What Is the Difference?

Bespoke vs Ready-to-Wear Gloves: What Is the Difference?

Bespoke gloves are made to your own measurement; ready-to-wear gloves come in standard sizes. Here is how they differ in fit, options, timing and returns.

Quick answer: Ready-to-wear gloves are made in standard sizes (men's 7.5 to 10, women's 6.5 to 8.5) and can be returned within 30 days. Bespoke gloves are cut and sewn to your own hand measurement, in the leather, colour, lining and stitching you choose, and most arrive 8 to 12 days after you confirm. Because a bespoke pair is made for one hand only, it cannot be returned.

What is the difference between bespoke and ready-to-wear gloves?

A ready-to-wear glove is made in a standard size and a set design. A bespoke glove starts from your measurement: the maker cuts the leather for your hand, and nothing is made until you have approved the details, the price and the timing. Both are made in our Târgu Mureș workshop, where gloves have been made since 1925; the bespoke pair is made by hand.

When is ready-to-wear the right choice?

If your hand sits comfortably within the standard size range and you like a design we already make, a ready-to-wear pair is the simpler route. You can browse the driving gloves and winter gloves collections, and check the sizing chart first.

When is bespoke worth considering?

Bespoke suits you if you want a particular combination of leather, colour, lining and stitching, or if standard sizes do not fit well. If your two hands differ in size, measure both and the maker can account for the difference. Our guide to measuring your hand explains how, and how bespoke gloves are made walks through the process from measurement to delivery.

Does bespoke cost more?

The price depends on the leather and the amount of hand-work. Peccary and carpincho cost more than deerskin, and hand-sewn pairs cost more than machine-sewn ones. A fully hand-sewn pair can take up to eight hours of work, depending on the model. Men's bespoke driving gloves start at €110, and you see a quote before you commit. Frequently asked questions

Can I return bespoke gloves?

No. Made-to-measure pairs cannot be resold, so they are not returnable, which is why we recommend confirming your measurement before ordering. Ready-to-wear pairs can be returned within 30 days. Details are on the shipping and returns page.

How long does a bespoke pair take?

The workshop needs up to five days, and delivery within the EU takes three to seven days, so most orders arrive 8 to 12 days after confirmation. If you have a deadline, tell us when you write and we will confirm whether it is possible before anything is made. More in how long a made-to-measure pair takes.

Is shipping free?

Shipping within the European Union is free and tracked. Outside the EU it is €30, or free on orders over €200; customs duties may apply.
