Warm enough to walk in, slim enough to drive in

The usual complaint about winter gloves is that the warm ones are useless for anything that needs your hands. That is a lining problem, not a leather problem. A thick synthetic lining turns a glove into a mitten; cashmere does not, because it insulates by trapping air rather than by being bulky.

So our winter gloves are cut to the same close pattern as the driving ones, then lined. You lose a little feel, not the use of your hands.

All cut and sewn by hand in our workshop in Târgu Mureș, Transylvania. Tell us how cold it gets where you are and we will suggest a lining before you order.

Questions we get asked

How cold is too cold for cashmere?

Around −10°C is where most people want more, especially standing still. Below that, rabbit fur. If you are out in it for hours rather than dashing to the car, go a step warmer than you think.

Strap, button, or plain cuff?

A strap or button closes the gap at the wrist where cold air gets in — a small detail with a real effect. A plain cuff is quicker on and neater under a coat sleeve. We make both, and it is worth thinking about which your winter actually calls for.

What size for a lined glove?

The same as your driving glove size. We allow for the lining in the cut, so lined and unlined gloves are the same size. See the sizing chart.

Which leather is warmest?

Peccary, because it stays supple when other leathers stiffen in the cold — see our peccary winter gloves. The warmest glove we make is shearling, one hide with the wool still on it. Deerskin is the sensible everyday choice.
