Peccary Gloves
Every pair we make in peccary — the rarest leather in fine glove-making, and the one we reach for when we want to make the best glove we can.
Peccary comes from a wild hoofed mammal of the family Tayassuidae. It is not pig, boar or hog leather, despite how routinely it is sold as such. Ours comes from Peru. The animals are not farmed, the hides are small, and fewer gloves come from each one — which is the honest explanation for the price.
What sets it apart is immediate softness. Most fine leathers ask for a few weeks of wear before they stop feeling stiff across the knuckles; peccary does not. It is supple from the first wear, it stays supple in cold weather, and it moulds to the hand until the fit becomes personal.
The grain is unmistakable. Hair follicles grow in groups of three, leaving a pitted texture that no other glove leather shares.
Across this collection you will find driving gloves, winter gloves lined in cashmere or rabbit fur, and fingerless pairs with padded palms. Our finest models are hand-sewn throughout — up to eight hours for a single pair — in our workshop in Târgu Mureș, Transylvania, where our family has made gloves since 1925.
